Doug Johnson Productions

A portable live production system for events that do not need the trailer.

The DJP flypack brings the core live-production workflow into a smaller, more flexible package. It is built for venues where the trailer is not the right fit, events with tighter access, faster moves, smaller crews, travel requirements, or productions where a compact control position makes more sense than a full mobile unit.

Same production thinking, smaller footprint.

The flypack is not a stripped-down afterthought. It is a practical way to bring switching, recording, monitoring, streaming, audio integration, intercom, playback, and graphics to events where portability matters.

Portable setup

Built for locations where trailer parking, cable paths, loading access, or venue logistics make a compact control system the better choice.

Live switching workflow

Supports the same live-production approach: cameras, graphics, playback, remote sources, recording, and streaming assembled during the event.

Flexible deployment

Useful for smaller events, indoor venues, multi-room setups, travel jobs, or events where the control position needs to be close to the action.

When the flypack makes sense.

Venue constraints

  • No easy trailer parking or shore power location
  • Shorter cable paths inside the venue
  • Control position needs to be backstage, in a booth, or near presenters
  • Event is on an upper floor or in a room with limited access

Production scale

  • Smaller camera counts
  • Lean crew requirements
  • Streaming-focused productions
  • Business meetings, school events, performances, and compact live shows

Mobility

  • Faster load-in and load-out
  • Better fit for travel or multi-location work
  • Easy to combine with venue systems
  • Can scale up with additional gear when the job calls for it

Flypack or trailer?

The best system depends on the event. The DJP MPU trailer is still a strong choice when the event benefits from a complete mobile control room, more workstations, extensive routing, and everything staged in one production vehicle.

The flypack is the better fit when portability, speed, venue access, travel, or a smaller footprint matter more. Either way, the goal is the same: build a reliable live program while the event is happening.

Common uses

  • Conference rooms and hotel ballrooms
  • School auditoriums and gyms
  • Churches and community venues
  • Corporate streams and meetings
  • Smaller concerts and performances
  • Remote presenter or hybrid-event control

We will bring the system that fits the event.
